DIMA Mission Statement

To represent the collective interests of the DIMA membership and to foster best practice so as to contribute to the ongoing development of a sustainable global re/insurance market and of a local business environment within which our members can operate efficiently

Representation

DIMA acts as the representative body for its members and engages continuously with Irish, European and other authorities globally. DIMA is a founder member of GFIA (Global Federation of Insurance Associations) and an observer member of IAIS (International Association of Insurance Supervisors). This enables the association to keep abreast of national, European and international regulatory activities and respond on behalf of the membership accordingly.

Education

DIMA hosts a successful educational programme on an annual basis for its members through a series of training courses, technical briefings and guest lectures. DIMA hosts the European Insurance Forum (EIF) which brings together the international re/insurance industry each year to examine and debate the sector’s challenges and direction. The EIF attracts over 200 C-suite delegates from across the world.

DIMA is a key stakeholder in the Summit Finuas Network which provides training and education for international financial services organisations in Ireland. DIMA has close links with tertiary education institutions in Ireland, in particular the University of Limerick, which hosts Bachelors and Masters programmes in risk management and insurance, and DIMA sponsors an annual essay award for UL undergraduates.

Communication

DIMA promotes high business and ethical standards within the Irish international re/insurance community through the provision of relevant market information. This is achieved via a number of channels including sub-committees and discussion groups, regular updates via e-mail and a monthly newsletter.

The association also provides a number of social activities and networking events for its members throughout the year such as golf outings and charity fund-raisers.
